Wallpaper Installation in Sky Lake, FL

The short answer

We install wallpaper throughout Sky Lake homes, from single rooms to whole houses. Our process covers measuring, wall repair and priming, careful layout, and level, pattern-matched hanging with tidy trim at every edge.

If you live in Sky Lake, our shop is about as close as it gets: this unincorporated Orange County community sits right alongside our Orlando base. That proximity makes it easy to drop by for measurements, to bring sample books to your house, and to schedule prep and hanging on separate days without long travel. We install wallpaper in every room of local homes, from powder rooms and bedrooms to kitchens and full living areas. Many houses here are single-story concrete-block homes with character, and wallpaper is a natural way to bring that character forward.

What local walls tend to look like

Homes built in the mid-century period around Orlando often have plaster over concrete block on exterior walls, with plaster or drywall interior partitions. Many have been painted many times, patched after decades of picture hanging, and occasionally papered before. Some rooms have a hand-troweled texture that was popular for years.

None of that prevents wallpaper, but it does shape the prep. We check each wall for loose plaster, cracks and texture, and we look for older paper hiding under paint. Then we recommend exactly what the wall needs, nothing more.

Some houses in the area have been added onto over the years, with a newer family room or primary suite built in drywall beside original plaster rooms. When wallpaper runs from an old room into an addition, the two wall types can take paste and primer a little differently. We prep both to the same smooth, sealed finish so the paper looks uniform across the transition.

Our prep checklist

Good wallpaper starts with a good surface. On a typical Sky Lake job, prep can include:

  • Removing old wallpaper or borders down to a clean wall
  • Sealing torn drywall paper or chalky plaster with a bonding primer
  • Filling cracks and holes, then sanding the patches flat
  • Skimming heavy texture so it will not show through the new paper
  • Rolling on a wallpaper primer over every surface we will paper

Choosing paper for each room

Bathrooms and laundry rooms need moisture-tolerant materials such as solid vinyl. Kitchens benefit from scrubbable finishes. Bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms are open to almost any paper, including traditional, non-woven, flocked or textured options.

Ceiling height affects pattern choice, too. Many ranch homes have eight-foot ceilings, where medium-scale prints and vertical designs feel balanced. Very large motifs can look cramped if a big part of the repeat disappears at the ceiling line. Bring home samples and tape them up for a few days to see how they read in your rooms.

How we hang a room

We start the first strip on the wall you notice most, centered on a window, bed, fireplace or doorway so the pattern looks balanced. From there we work around the room, matching every seam and checking alignment at several heights. The last seam, where the pattern meets itself, goes in the least noticeable corner.

Inside corners are split and restarted on a new plumb line, which keeps the pattern vertical on the next wall even if the corner leans. We cut cleanly along the ceiling, baseboards, window casings and door trim, and we clean paste off woodwork immediately so it never dries on.

Outlets, switches and vent covers come off before hanging and go back on over the finished paper. Older homes sometimes have outlets that sit slightly recessed or crooked in plaster, and we shim or square the covers so they sit flat against the new surface. Small details like that are what make a room look finished rather than merely papered.

Working with the Central Florida climate

Wallpaper paste cures best in a stable, cool environment. From June through September, our summers are hot and humid with almost daily thunderstorms, so we ask that the air conditioning run normally before, during and after install day. The milder, drier winter months are an easy time to tackle larger projects.

Between June 1 and November 30, hurricane season can bring power outages. We will move your appointment if a storm is approaching, and because we are local, it is usually easy to reschedule.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Honest prep advice

If your wall has glossy paint, torn drywall facing or a lingering moisture problem, we say so before work starts and suggest the fix that makes sense for that surface.

  2. Patterns that line up

We plot where the repeat falls at eye level and in corners, so the match holds across the whole room instead of drifting by the last strip.

  3. A tidy work area

Drop cloths go down first, scraps leave with us, and paste residue is sponged off trim and ceilings before we call the job done.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (561) 944-3314 and we’ll talk it through.

Can you bring wallpaper samples to my house?

We can help you narrow choices and look at samples in your own light. Since Sky Lake is right next to our base, visits are easy to schedule.

Do you install wallpaper on plaster walls?

Yes. Sound plaster is an excellent base once it is repaired, smoothed where needed and primed.

How long does it take to wallpaper a bedroom?

Most bedrooms take one to two days, depending on how much prep the walls need and how complex the pattern is.

Should I paint before or after wallpaper?

Paint ceilings and trim first. Once paint is fully dry, we hang paper and cut it neatly against the finished surfaces.

Can you install wallpaper in a bathroom?

Yes, using a moisture-tolerant vinyl and with a working exhaust fan. Powder rooms without showers can handle almost any paper.

What do I need to do before you arrive?

Clear small items, remove art and curtains, and have the rolls in the house. We handle covering floors and moving larger furniture.
