The short answer
We install panel murals in Ocoee homes, from nurseries to two-story walls. Success comes down to measuring before ordering, smoothing textured drywall, and placing the first panel so the key parts of the image land in the right spot.
Ocoee families often pick murals for the rooms where they want a real sense of place: a kid's bedroom that feels like a jungle, a home office with a calm mountain view, a dining nook wrapped in a garden scene. Murals arrive as numbered panels that together make one continuous picture, and they leave no margin for a crooked start. We travel roughly 12 miles northwest from Orlando to install murals in homes throughout ZIP code 34761. Read on for how we plan around big open walls, stairways and window openings so the finished image looks deliberate from every angle.
Popular mural rooms in Ocoee homes
Children's bedrooms and playrooms top the list. Murals let you create a theme without painting it by hand, and they can be removed later when tastes change. Next come home offices and video-call backgrounds, where a landscape or library image gives the room depth. Dining nooks off the kitchen, stair landings and the long wall of a loft round out the most common requests.
In newer two-story houses, a great room wall can be a striking place for a mural, but it takes more planning. The image has to be large enough to fill the height without being stretched, and furniture placement matters because the bottom third of the picture will be partly hidden.
How we plan the layout
Every mural job starts on paper, before any panel is opened. We measure the wall at several points, mark where windows, doors, outlets and switches sit, and compare that against the mural image. Then we talk through the details:
- Which part of the picture should sit at eye level when you walk in
- Whether a bed, sofa or desk will cover important parts of the image
- How much extra bleed to order for trimming at ceiling and floor
- Where panel seams will fall relative to faces, text or fine lines in the art
- Whether the mural should wrap a corner or stop cleanly at it
Smoothing walls before a mural
Knockdown and orange-peel texture are standard in a lot of Ocoee construction. On a mural, which often has broad areas of sky, water or soft gradients, that texture becomes very noticeable. For the cleanest result, we skim coat the wall, sand it, and prime with a product made for wallcoverings.
In the city's older single-story concrete-block homes, walls are more often plaster or smooth drywall. We still check for cracks, nail pops and old anchors, since anything left under the mural will show once light from a window rakes across it.
Picking an image that fits the wall
Scale is easy to misjudge on a screen. A forest scene with small, detailed trees can look busy on a short wall, while a single oversized flower can feel overwhelming in a narrow hallway. As a rule of thumb, large walls in great rooms and lofts carry big, simple compositions best, and smaller bedrooms or nooks suit images with a clear center and soft edges that can be cropped without losing the subject.
Color matters, too. Murals with lots of deep greens or navy make a room feel cozier and smaller, which can be lovely in a reading corner. Pale skies, watercolors and sandy neutrals keep a sunny Ocoee room bright. Before ordering, hold your phone up to the wall with the image displayed at roughly the right proportion. It is a quick, low-tech way to sense whether the picture fits the space you actually have.
Install day
We lay the panels out in numbered order to confirm nothing is missing or misprinted. The first panel goes up against a laser or plumb line, positioned according to the layout plan rather than tucked into a corner. Each following panel is matched across the image, smoothed carefully to avoid stretching, and seamed tight.
Trimming happens last. We cut at the ceiling, baseboard and around openings with fresh blades, then reinstall outlet and switch covers. Most single-wall murals are finished in one visit.
Light, climate and care
Strong western sun can fade some inks over time. If the mural wall faces a big window, consider UV-filtering film or blinds for the brightest afternoon hours. Indoors, a stable air-conditioned climate keeps paste and seams happy, which matters most through Central Florida's hot, humid, stormy stretch from June to September. If a hurricane threatens during the season that runs June 1 through November 30, we will rebook rather than hang panels before a possible outage.
We also install murals in Winter Garden, Windermere, Eatonville, Maitland and Winter Park.
