Wall Mural Installation in Edgewood, Florida

The short answer

We hang printed panel murals in Edgewood homes, matching each numbered panel to a plumb layout so the image reads as one continuous scene. Measure first, order second, and expect most single-wall murals to be finished in a day.

A wallpaper mural is a single large image split into numbered panels, and it only looks right when every panel lands in exactly the right spot. One panel hung a quarter inch off can tilt a horizon line or break a tree trunk in half. In Edgewood, a compact residential city a couple of miles northeast of our Orlando base, we install murals in nurseries, playrooms, dining rooms, home gyms and offices. Some clients order a custom print sized to their wall; others choose a stock design and ask us to help decide where to crop it. Either way, the work begins with measuring the actual wall, not the number on the floor plan, because older Edgewood houses are rarely perfectly square.

Measure before you order the print

Mural companies ask for width and height, and they usually add a few inches of bleed so the image can be trimmed at the ceiling, floor and corners. If the wall measures differently at the top than at the bottom, which is common in mid-century block construction, the bleed has to cover the larger dimension. We take measurements at several heights and widths and send you the numbers to give the printer.

We also note what the image will run into: a window, a door frame, a built-in shelf. A face, a sun or a focal animal should not land behind a headboard or get cut by a light switch. Marking those obstacles on a sketch helps you or the designer shift the crop before printing.

  • Measure at three heights and three widths
  • Add the manufacturer's recommended bleed to the largest number
  • Mark windows, outlets and furniture that will block part of the image
  • Decide where the focal point should sit relative to the room's main view

Layout lines and panel order

Every panel in a mural is numbered, and every panel depends on the one before it. We start by laying the panels out on the floor in sequence to confirm nothing is missing or misprinted. Then a plumb line is drawn on the wall for the first panel, adjusted so the overall image is centered or offset exactly as planned.

As each panel goes up, we check the overlap or butt joint against the printed image, not just against the edge of the previous sheet. If the wall bows slightly, small corrections are spread over several seams so no single joint shows a jump.

Choosing the mural material for an Edgewood room

Murals come on non-woven paper, vinyl, and peel-and-stick film. Non-woven is easy to hang with paste-the-wall adhesive and removes cleanly when it is time for a change, which makes it popular for children's rooms that will be redone as kids grow. Vinyl suits kitchens, mudrooms and any space where hands or splashes are part of daily life.

Peel-and-stick murals can be tempting, but the hot, humid months from June through September test their adhesive. Rooms that warm up when the air conditioning cycles off, or walls that face west into afternoon sun, are where we see lifting edges first. For a mural you want to keep for years, a pasted product is usually the steadier option.

What to expect on install day

Furniture moves to the middle of the room and floors are covered. Outlet and switch plates come off. If the wall needs patching or priming, that happens first, and a primer that suits the mural backing goes on so the panels can be repositioned during hanging and later removed without tearing drywall paper.

Most single-wall murals are hung in a day. We trim the bleed at the ceiling and baseboard, cut neatly around openings, reinstall covers and leave any offcuts rolled and labeled. Edges should be left alone for a day or two while the adhesive sets, so hold off on pushing a dresser tight against the new image right away.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Honest prep advice

If your wall has glossy paint, torn drywall facing or a lingering moisture problem, we say so before work starts and suggest the fix that makes sense for that surface.

  2. Patterns that line up

We plot where the repeat falls at eye level and in corners, so the match holds across the whole room instead of drifting by the last strip.

  3. A tidy work area

Drop cloths go down first, scraps leave with us, and paste residue is sponged off trim and ceilings before we call the job done.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (561) 944-3314 and we’ll talk it through.

Can you install a mural I bought online?

Yes. Share the product page or instructions before ordering if possible, so we can confirm the panel size, adhesive type and bleed fit your Edgewood wall.

What if my wall is not square?

That is normal in older homes. Ordering with enough bleed and spreading small corrections across several seams keeps the image straight to the eye.

Can a mural wrap around a corner?

It can, but corners distort images. We usually suggest planning the design so important elements stay a few inches clear of any inside corner.

Will a mural come off later without damage?

Non-woven murals hung over the correct primer are designed to strip off in large pieces, which makes later changes much easier.

Do you hang murals outside Edgewood?

Yes, including nearby Belle Isle, Sky Lake, Winter Park, Eatonville and Maitland.

Is a mural a good choice for a nursery?

Very often. Choose a washable non-woven or vinyl product, and plan the crib placement before printing so the main scene stays visible.
