The short answer
We install accent walls, murals and full-room wallpaper in Williamsburg, about five miles southwest of our Orlando base. Every feature wall is laid out in advance so the pattern lands correctly, and we also remove old paper and repair walls.
Williamsburg is an unincorporated community in Orange County, about five miles southwest of our Orlando base and a short drive from Lake Buena Vista. A lot of the calls we get from this neighborhood are about creative, single-wall projects: a mural for a playroom, a dramatic print behind a dining table, a patterned ceiling in a powder room or a textured backdrop for a home office. Statement walls are fun, but they are also unforgiving, because everyone's eye goes straight to them. A crooked seam or a pattern chopped off awkwardly at the ceiling is impossible to miss. Here is how we plan and install feature walls in Williamsburg homes, plus the full range of other wallcovering work we handle locally.
Picking the right wall to feature
The wall that works for a statement is usually the one you see first when entering the room, or the one behind the main piece of furniture. In a bedroom that is often the headboard wall; in a living room it might be the wall behind the sofa or around a fireplace. Walls broken up by several windows or doors tend to dilute a pattern, so we may suggest a different surface or a ceiling instead.
We also consider how the feature wall meets its neighbors. Clean inside corners make the transition crisp, while an outside corner or an open edge needs a deliberate stopping point so the paper does not look unfinished.
How we install a mural
Murals arrive as numbered panels that must line up precisely to form one image. Before hanging, we unroll and check every panel for printing defects and confirm the overall dimensions against the actual wall, which is rarely perfectly square. Then we decide how much bleed to leave at the ceiling, floor and sides so the most important part of the image sits where it should.
The steps on install day go roughly like this.
- Mark a true vertical line rather than trusting the corner of the room.
- Hang the first panel against that line and trim only after it is fully set.
- Butt each following panel tightly, matching the artwork across the seam.
- Roll seams lightly so the image does not stretch or distort.
- Trim top and bottom last, using fresh blades for clean edges.
- Sponge away any adhesive from the face before it dries.
Getting the wall ready
A large printed image highlights every flaw underneath it. We remove nail holes, anchors and old patches, skim any sprayed texture smooth, sand and then prime with a wallcovering primer. If a previous owner left paper behind, we strip it fully rather than layering over it, since the old seams would eventually show through.
Moisture gets attention too. Central Florida summers, from June through September, are hot and humid with almost daily afternoon storms, and the Atlantic hurricane season stretches from June 1 to November 30. Walls that took on water from a leak need to be dried, repaired and sealed before a mural goes up, or the image may bubble and stain.
Choosing a material for a feature wall
Matching the product to the room keeps a statement wall looking sharp. Playrooms and kids' bedrooms benefit from scrubbable vinyl or a coated mural that wipes clean after crayon incidents. Living rooms and studies can carry grasscloth or other natural textures, which add depth that flat paint cannot. If you are not ready to commit, peel-and-stick murals and prints are a lower-stakes option on a smooth, well-cured painted wall.
For a powder room, ceiling paper is an easy way to make a small space feel designed. We plan the direction of the pattern so it reads correctly from the doorway.
Lighting changes how a feature wall reads, too. A wall washed by recessed lights or a picture light will show every ridge and seam, so smooth prep is even more important there. Metallic and glossy papers bounce light around a dim room, while matte textures calm a wall that gets bright afternoon sun.
More than feature walls
Williamsburg homeowners also book us for whole-room installs, stripping dated paper, wall repair and vinyl wallcovering in kitchens and baths. Small businesses nearby can schedule commercial-grade vinyl for lobbies, offices and corridors.
From Williamsburg we also cover Lake Buena Vista, Sky Lake, Kissimmee, Edgewood and Belle Isle, so nearby households can book on the same schedule.
